How to boil chicken for dogs [Fast & Simple Recipe]

Boiling chicken is a simple and healthy way to prepare chicken for your dog. Here is a fast and simple recipe.

Ingredients:

  • 3 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (fresh or completely thawed)

Instructions:

  1. Cut the chicken into small, bite-sized pieces.
  2. Place the chicken pieces in a pot and cover them with water.
  3. Bring the water to a boil over high heat.
  4. Reduce the heat to low, and let the chicken simmer for about 15-20 minutes. Take a piece out, cut it in half, and check the color. If there is still pink, put the piece back in the water and continue boiling for another 1-2 minutes, and then repeat the test. If there is no pink, turn off the heat.
  5. Use a slotted spoon to remove the chicken pieces from the pot. Place them on an open plate to let them cool.

Once the chicken is cool, you can serve it to your dog as a standalone meal or mix it with other ingredients such as cooked rice. You can even cook the rice in the chicken broth you just created with the recipe above.

Depending on the size of your dog, this may be enough food for a few days so store any leftovers in the fridge.

Mistakes to Avoid

Chicken bones are dangerous for dogs to ingest. When a dog chews them, they can splinter and those splinters can puncture your doggy’s digestive tract (a life-threatening injury). Make sure the chicken you boil doesn’t contain any bones or bone fragments before you serve it to your dog.

Also, don’t add any seasonings to your dog’s chicken. Many seasonings include onion powder, garlic powder, chives, sage, or nutmeg — all of which are toxic to dogs. Some sweet sauces and seasonings also contain xylitol which is highly toxic to dogs as well.
